    Keenevention 2015 Day Three Recap

Beautiful Weekend for Keenevention!

Fall Colors Not Gone Yet!

Keenevention takes place mid-fall, past peak “leaf-peeping” season.  As nice as it would be to hold this event during the peak of the fall colors, that would drastically increase the price of the event.  Hotel rooms cost three times as much and booking the banquet hall would be very difficult due to all the weddings that happen during the fall colors.  We’ve held Keenevention on the very first week where the hotel room prices fall below $80 a night, because keeping the event affordable is very important.  I want everyone to be able to attend who wants to attend.

So, we don’t advertise the fall colors as a reason to come to Keenevention, because you just can’t predict when the peak will be.  That said, last year and this year we’ve had the privilege of having a decent amount of trees that are still in good shape.  Bright colors and full leaves are still present across Keene, so enjoy!

Please follow the Keenevention facebook for photos of the panels thus far!

How to Get Your Tickets At-the-Door For the Pre-Order Price

The online pre-order window has closed and name badges have been printed.  You can still get the pre-order price of $60 for the whole weekend by walking in on Friday before the first panel at 9am.  Doors open at 8:30am.  After 9am the price goes up to $75 for the weekend and $30 per day.  This “earlybird discount” applies to Sunday as well.  Before 9am, you can get in for the whole day at $25.  (Or Bitcoin equivalents.)

See you in less than 24 hours at Keenevention – don’t be late!  😛

Voluntary Vendor Space

Keenvention Vendor Area

Keenvention Vendor Area

Keenevention is an intimate event. That means the attendance is small in comparison to other conventions. It’s easy to meet nearly everyone who attends. Last year we had 120-130 attendees, about half were speakers at the event, a quarter were tickets paid in advance and a quarter were walk-ins. Given the size of the event space (the largest in Keene, to my knowledge), Keenevention can never be much more than 200-300 people, nor would I want it to be.

The intimate atmosphere is a real feature that the Free State Project‘s excellent yearly events don’t have due to their size. Liberty Forum has outgrown its large hotel space and is moving to the largest event space in NH, the Radisson in Manchester (March 5th-8th, 2015). Recent Liberty Forums have been attended by 500-800, I think. Porcfest is over 1500 attendees for the past couple of years. For possible event sponsors, that means Keenevention is an event with hundreds fewer attendees. What does that make it worth for a sponsor table? I have no idea, so I’d rather you decide: (more…)

Rewrite of 101 Reasons Leaves Room for Grindhouse Double Feature

101ReasonsUPDATE: Due to a very recent rewrite of 101 Reasons: Liberty Lives in New Hampshire, the new shortened length will allow us to turn this Saturday morning’s 9am event at Keene Cinemas into a Grindhouse double feature. First up will be the Film Fest Edition of Derrick J’s Victimless Crime Spree, never before seen in theaters. Following that, a preview cut of 101 Reasons will be shown publicly for the first time. Then the Q&A session with the producers at the Best Western, as scheduled. Looking forward to seeing you!

Here’s a facebook event.
